Visitors, FSC supporters, music lovers, and arts enthusiasts alike are invited to enjoy beverages and experience a behind-the-scenes look inside the studios of artists working in a range of media. An eclectic mix of entertainment, live music, dance, and performance art will complement the diverse visual art on display. Live performances on both floors every half hour including a set at 10pm by FSC partner Environmental Encroachment!

Laboratory Dancers invites you to Runt Pulse, an evening of dance, technology and visual art to be held at the intimate Fulton Street Collective April 20-22, 2012. Runt Pulse will premiere three new dance works by Sam Hertz/Haley Bergschneider, Emily Lukasewski and Alexandra Subak. Our concert will also feature innovative production technology by Bjorn Kavanaugh and a selection of visual art curated by Jessie Winslow. In keeping with Laboratory Dancers' mission to create affordable modern & experimental dance experiences, Runt Pulse is free. There is limited seating, so please arrive early. A post-show discussion will take place following the Friday performance. Audience members are encouraged to share questions and comments with the artists. Can't make it to the show? JOE LANASA has been playing local area clubs since the late 90’s and his sound has grown and evolved along with the diverse crowds he plays for. His music is a blend of styles; garage-band, guitar-driven rock, punk, latin, and neo-spiritual rock anthems; with influences like early Springsteen, Jim Morrison to Van Morrison; Dylan, Marty Robbins, and Johnny Cash. None of which overshadow the emotion and style of his own heart and soul.
“Somebody’s Sins” is an exciting new version of the band, consisting of Paul Bivans on drums, “Johnny 99” Flanagan on lead guitar, and Michael Krayniak on bass, accompanying Joe’s vocals and guitar. They are working on a new album which should be available in Spring of 2012. Look for them at clubs and festivals around the mid-west this year!

Greater Chicago Church: Poetry Workshop It's not too late to sign up for the poetry workshop with Joanne Diaz, THIS Saturday, February 4 from 10am-noon. I've had a number of conversations with folks who feel a desire to write, but it hasn't yet reached draft form. That's perfectly OK. The morning will be spent engaged in writing exercises and include practical instruction to jump start you own writing. Bring your pen, blank notebook, your dreams to write poetry and you'll be set. For more seasoned writers, this will be a great way to keep 'priming the pump' and expand your own skills.The goal of this workshop is simply to equip writers and build community. Writing is typically very isolating, but we get a chance to do it together this weekend. Join us!It will be held at the Fulton Street Collective, at 2000 W. Fulton Street, Chicago, 60612, so you'll also get a sneak peek at a space where we'll be hosting some more great resourcing events in the future! Todd Siegel Art Show!
Todd Siegel is an art teacher and artist living and working in Chicago. Every year he travels and works with international artists in a residency near Florence, Italy. This year he began focusing his work on the ideas, personal frustrations, and controversial topic of Education. Many of his ideas come from readings by writers such as Neil Postman, John Dewey, and others who write about alternative possibilities and understandings of the world of education. More ideas are personal and stem from frustrations of the recent distrust of teachers and people making decisions on educational institutions not thinking of the child as a learner or a human being. His other artworks stem from personal situations with his experience teaching. He thought it was appropriate to Include artwork from the after school art club. In his art club his students between the grades of 4th-6th have chosen to display one drawing from their sketchbooks.
