Lion VS Gorilla presents: /// NEON 2011 Lion VS Gorilla is a Chicago-based gallery concept working in conjunction with the Fulton Street Collective. Lion VS Gorilla has a mission of encouraging collaboration, fostering community, and challenging barriers between artists and viewers. We believe that art should be rowdy, that people should fight for it, and that viewing should never be passive. For the third show, Lion VS Gorilla is presenting one of the very few all-neon group shows to happen in Chicago. Central to /// NEON 2011 is the way that light (or lack of light) can create, inform, and shape environment. This will be done through the neon art, an interactive light installation, and the audience members themselves (YOU.) There will be three DJ’s, a set by Space Cabin, refreshments, and some surprises. Part of the proceeds will go to The School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Light Lab and its mission to nurture new work in this underutilized material. SAIC’s Light Lab is one of only two such neon studios in a U.S. academic institution. Opportunities to create and view neon art are limited, highlighting the importance of showing this work. Come show your support and come prepared to dance your little heart out. Oh, and also, there will be a bouncy castle.
We hope to see you there! FEATURED NEON ARTISTS: John Bannon, Keith Lemley, JiMaoC4, Hochul Shin, and Dave K. Sharma
