Artist's StatementAnnette Jackson has been creating applied art object since her preteen years. After graduating from New York University with a B.A. in Art Education she focused her artistic development in metals. In 2003 Annette was introduced to lampworking and a new passion was born.
She has spent the last six years working with glass, honing her lampworking skills. Her current work in Masks seeks to marry her love of metal and glass as well as reflect her diverse cultural heritage. Currently, Annette is conducting small classes in Lampworking and Enameling. In fact, she can tell you herself: "Hi Everyone - Just wanted to let you know - as well as ask you to spread the word - I am conducting small classes in Lampworking (glass bead making) and Enameling. I am in the process of forming interest lists and holding class when I have 3 (lampwork) and 5 (enamel) students. This is a description: Just the Basics Workshops This series of 2 hour workshops are designed to help you experiment with new art forms – to let you explore new techniques without a long term time or expense commitment. If you ever had any questions or curiosity about any of the art forms covered in this series – this is a great starting point! Basics of Lampworking Do you love glass beads? Do you want to see and experience how they are made – with no long term commitment? This workshop will explain how glass beads are made and you will make your own beads. If you have ever wanted to try Lampworking just to see if it is your “cup of tea” - this is the workshop for you. Wear cotton shirt, bring sunglasses and a spirit of fun. All materials included. Basic of Enameling - What is enameling? Are you curious about enameling – the art of designing glass on metal? This workshop will show you how enamel pieces are made, the basic techniques will be demonstrated and you will experience hands-on involvement making small pieces of your own to keep.
