THIRD WEDNESDAYS:
THE JAZZ RECORD ART COLLECTIVE, featuring Neal Alger's Blue Note Quartet

Wednesday, September 18th
Doors Open at 8:00
Performance begins at 8:30
2000 W. Fulton St., 60618
Chris Anderson, club manager of the Green Mill Jazz Club, is collaborating with the Fulton Street Collective, in producing a monthly series with the aim of providing local bands and visual artists alike an opportunity to collaborate in response and pay homage to iconic Jazz musicians.

The events, entitled "The Jazz Record Art Collective," will occur the third Wednesday every month at the Fulton Street Collective, located at 2000 West Fulton Street.  Each month, Anderson and Lanasa will introduce a new lineup of Jazz musicians, painters, sculptors, poets, and photographers,
responding to a different record and musician. This month, Neal Alger’s the Blue Note Quartet will perform Wayne Shorter's classic "Speak No Evil," in its entirety on Wednesday, September 18th at 8:30pm.  The scheduled lineup for Neal Alger's Blue Note Quartet is as follows:

Neal Alger – Guitar
Scott Burns - Saxophone
Matt Ferguson - Bass
George Fludas - Drums

In addition to the live performance, paintings, photography, and poetry will be on display by local artists such as Raymond Thomas, David Powers, and Julius Bautista.  The month, the work being shown is part of the theme directly influenced by Shorter’s album.

Admission will be a suggested donation of $10.

The collaboration is one of several new programs being developed at the Fulton Street Collective under a new administrative team aiming to engage and support artists in the surrounding communities of Chicago.

Asked to sum up the Fulton Street Collective, resident artist Julius Bautista responds, "We're a flexible organization dedicated to the development of artists of all disciplines within our numerous diverse communities in Chicago.  The goal, ultimately, is to provide an affordable space for musicians, dancers, painters, DJ's, brewers, and other creatives to share their talents under one roof, and to make that space equally as accessible to an audience in the mood for a lively, festive kind of vibe."

You can find updates, as well as RSVP for the event at the event page here.
