Artist's Statement

I am interested in creating gesture drawings, as well as fully developed pieces from figure sessions and further exploring line, mood and the possibilities inherent in the printmaking process. Incorporating delicate materials, such as Japanese papers and silver leaf, emphasize the female form.

The use of the burlesque dancer as model, with the accompanying atmosphere of eroticism has been my focus for several years. As artists such as Degas and Lautrec visited brothels and cabarets for inspiration, I continue to explore the female form in a very specific setting.

Recently, I have revisited my passion for illustration, botanicals in particular. I am most interested in treating the specific floral as I would the human form and showing the personality in my work.
