Artist's StatementKaren Parisian is an artist and art therapist. She has been exhibiting her work in the Chicago area for over 10 years and collections of work span nationally and internationally. Her work can be thought of as Spiritual Modernism as she has found inspiration in the modern masters as well as her own symbols and metaphors representing the universal. In addition, primitive cultures have influenced her work as their rituals and rites of passage speak to the core nature of being. Her paintings are layered and textured in abstract and figurative form relating to raw essentials and, at times, minimalistic purities.
