I have been a working artist and teacher for over 11 years. As a teacher and artist, I believe that every person can learn how to draw and paint. Throughout my years as a teacher and student, I have studied many different methods and philosophies of teaching and think that every artist needs a foundation in the traditional methods of drawing and painting. For the past 8 years I have studied painting and drawing in the countryside of Florence, Italy and worked with a variety of international teachers and artists under the leadership of contemporary South African artists Rose Shakanovsky and Claire Gavronsky. Under their guidance, I attended several workshops in Italy, San Francisco, and New York to study painting, drawing, art history, and their traditional methods of teaching.
During my years as a teacher, I improved my teaching, knowledge, and leadership skills by achieving a highly distinguished National Board Teaching Certificate and attaining my Masters in Teacher Leadership. I have led workshops in teaching to students of all ages. Weekly I teach over 600 students and run an after school art club that focuses on painting, drawing, and sculpture. As a busy teacher, I continue to dedicate time studying and creating art at the Fulton Street Collective and with a group of international artists.
